Barsasat College, formerly Barasat Evening College, started functioning in the year 1972 with a small number of students, and with only the Commerce Stream. With sacrifices and inspiration from some persons interested in education and with active services from teaching and non-teaching staff, the College has reached the present dimension wherein about 2700 students are receiving instructions in higher education in three streams -Arts, Science and Commerce, the Arts stream and Science stream being introduced with effect from 1986 and 2004 respectively.
Now Barasat College is the pride of the people of Barasat and its surroundings as a good academic institution. |
AIMS And OBJECTIVE |
AIMS : Our aims is to make our Institute an Institute of excellence. The objective of the college is to provide, "Life Centric and Job Oriented" quality higher education through a modern multi-faculty college wherein the students can be well taught and trained to become partners in the socio- economic development of the country and our target is to occupy an importent site in the educational map of the West Bengal. |
| LOCATION : The College is located at 1,Kalyani Road, P.O. Nabapally, P.S. Barasat, North 24 Parganas, Kolkata-700 126, Near the Railway Crossing No. 11 between Hridaypur and Barasat Railway Station and is accessable by all forms of public transport. |
Academic Affiliation |
The College is affiliated to the West Bengal State University, Barasat, North 24 Parganas. It is also a recognised Study Centre of Under the Distance Education Programme of Rabindra Bharati University.
