Barasat College

From The Principal's Desk

As the head of this Institution I wish to take this opportunity to reach out to the thousands of students willing to take admission to our college and to their guardians and say a few words about " Barasat College". We at Barasat college believe that our college is a source of pride not only for Barasat but also for 24 parganas as well as for West Bengal. I would like to briefly glimpse at its past history so that the students and their guardians know that their faith in this Institution has not been misplacd. The Institution through young in age (established 1972), has already got the Accreditation of the National Assesment and Accreditation council(NAAC) and has started playing a pivotal role in catering quality education to students hailing from the nearby localities as well as those who come here from the remote village of the 24 parganas district.

Most importently students from all communities, caste and creed have given this Institution a truly cosmopolitan character, a unique distinction.

          This Institution which started only with the commerce stream now provides multi faculty streams. Students may opt for Arts, Science or Commerce course for an Honours or general degree from West Bengal State University. In the Year 2007 the college has become a study centre of Rabindra Bharati University under the Distance Education Programme thereby adding a new feather of the Institution's cap. Now the study centre offers(Post Graduate Course in Bengali, English,Sanskrit, Education,Geography,Environmental Studies, History, Political Science and Master in Soial Work (MSW). Within a short period of time this study centre has truly become very popular and hundreds of students apply every semester to enrol themselves in this study programme.

        Only within thirty eight years of its journey this Institution has marched ahead in all spheres and has achived many a success. As Pricipal of this College I want to achnowledge the contribution and relentless effort of individuals from all walks of life, who desrve full crdit for these numerous achivements. They are none other than our own soldiers (the Teaching staff, the Non Teaching staff and Students),to whome I Convey my heartfelt gratitude as they are the ones who have nurtured the college and helped this Institution to grow in stature.

         Needless to say, thsi is beginning of our journy, I am confident that in the year to come, this Institution, with the help and co-operation of all, will emerge as a pioneer Institution in providing excellent education to the coming generations and will achive premier status as an "Institute of Excellence" and will occupy an extremly importent site in the Educational map of West Bengal as well as India.

Lastly I wish to convey a special 'Message' to my students : "This College is yours,be proud of your Institution and let us be proud of you"
